Police probe fatal pedestrian crash in Leichhardt

A man has died in hospital after he was hit by a car in Sydney’s inner west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 2.50pm yesterday today, a 58-year-old man was driving a Toyota Corolla east along Marion Street, Leichhardt.

At the same time, an 81-year-old man was crossing the same road when he was hit by the Toyota.

The older man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition, where he has since died.

The male driver was conveyed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
