Police are investigating following the alleged assault of a woman in the state’s North West, NSW Police say.
Just before 6.30am today, a woman was taken to Wilcannia Hospital after being found on the road in Woore Street, Wilcannia.
A 30-year-old woman was treated at the hospital with serious head injuries and lacerations. She was later airlifted to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.
Officers attached to Barrier Local Area Command were contacted by staff at the hospitals and have commenced an investigation surrounding the incident.
A crime scene has been established and police will continue to conduct inquiries.
