Police probe following break-in and pursuit in Minto

Investigations are underway following an aggravated break-in and pursuit at Minto today, NSW Police say.

Just before 7.30am today, police from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command responded to reports of an overnight break-in at a home on Torbreck Street.

A white Nissan Pulsar sedan was taken from the premises while the occupants were asleep.

Just before 9am, officers sighted the Nissan Pulsar driving in Amundsen Street, Leumeah, and commenced a pursuit when the driver failed to stop.

The pursuit was terminated a short time later when the driver of the Nissan crashed into a gutter near Amundsen Reserve and ran from the car.

A search of the surrounding area was commenced involving local police, Polair and the Dog Unit, but officers were unable to locate the driver. The vehicle was secured for forensic analysis.

Investigating officers would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander appearance with a skinny build and about 175cm tall.

The man was last seen wearing a grey top, brown shorts and a white cap.
