Police probe indecent assault of woman in Guildford

Police are investigating the indecent assault of a woman as she left the train station at Guildford yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 8.30pm tomorrow a 29-year-old woman walked from Guildford Railway Station on Railway Terrace through the underpass and onto Military Road.

As she left the underpass tunnel she felt as though she was being closely followed.

The woman headed east along Guildford Road and onto O’Neil Street. As she neared a unit block on O’Neil Street she was approached by a man who asked her for a cigarette.

She handed him one and he used her lighter to light it. As he did he indecently assaulted the woman before running from the area.

The woman reported the incident to Merrylands Police Station and an investigation is now underway.

The man has been described as Indian Sub/Continental in appearance, about 180cm tall with a medium build and aged in his early 30’s. He has an olive complexion with a short beard and short cropped hair. At the time of the incident he was reportedly wearing a brown/grey zip jacket with a dark top underneath.

Anyone who may have seen a man matching this description and loitering around the Guildford Railway Station should contact detectives from Merrylands Police Station.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
