Police Probe Public Shooting in Merrylands

Investigations have commenced after a public place shooting in Sydney's south west.

About 2.40am today (Tuesday 9 September 2025), police were called to a home on Wright Street, Merrylands, following reports of shots fired.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command and the Raptor Squad attended and found gun shots had been fired into the home.

There were three occupants inside the premises at the time.

There have been no reports of injuries.

A crime scene has been established and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Localised roads are closed and motorists are urged to avoid the area.

As investigations commence police are urging anyone with information – or who was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Granville Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
