Police probe shooting in Fairfield

Inquiries continue into a shooting in Sydney’s west.

Shortly after 5.30am today tomorrow emergency services were called to Francis Street, Fairfield after reports that a man had been shot.

Police from Fairfield Local Area Command attended and located a 26-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established at the home. It is believed the offenders fled the scene in a vehicle.

While inquiries continue, investigations suggest the shooting is targeted.

About 7am a 29-year-old man was arrested after allegedly breaching the crime scene. He has been taken to Fairfield Police Station.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
