Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at a commercial premise in Maroubra overnight, NSW Police say.
About 2am tomorrow, emergency services were called to a shop on Anzac Parade, near Maroubra Road, following reports of an explosion.
On arrival officers located the premises well alight.
A crime scene has been established while NSW Fire & Rescue officers extinguish the fire and complete an internal investigation of the property.
A number of people residing above the store were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Motorists are advised that morning peak hour may be affected as the investigation continues through the early hours this morning.
Detectives from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command are investigating the incident and would like to speak with anyone who may have information that can assist.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
