Police Probe Suspicious Death in Avon Downs

The Northern Territory Police Force is calling for information in relation to a suspicious death in the Avon Downs District on Sunday.

Around 5:50am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report a female had stopped breathing in the vicinity of Barkly Homestead on the Barkly Highway after a vehicle she was travelling in allegedly hit a kangaroo.

The woman died at the scene and the death is being treated as suspicious.

A 33-year-old male was arrested and conveyed to Tennant Creek where he has been assisting police with enquiries.
