Police Probe Wellington Death

Police are appealing for public assistance after the body of a man was found in the Central West last month.

About 10.15pm on Friday 25 July 2025, police attended a home on Walker Crescent, Wellington, due to concerns for welfare for the resident.

Officers entered the home where the body of a 64-year-old man was located.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District, with the assistance of State Crime Command Homicide Squad established Strike Force Rudall and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which police believe was unprovoked.

Police would like to speak with a man they believe can assist with inquiries. The man was described as wearing a dark long jacket over a dark puffer jacket with red and white joggers when he was believed to have been in Walker or Thornton Street area between Thursday 24 July 2025 and Friday 25 July 2025.

As inquiries continue anyone with information – or has been in the area with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage or CCTV – is urged to contact Dubbo Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
