Police release CCTV footage following attempted armed robbery in Queanbeyan

Police have released CCTV footage and are appealing for public assistance after an attempted armed robbery in Queanbeyan earlier this month.

Shortly before 6pm on Saturday 4 June 2016, a youth entered a grocery store on Crawford Street, Queanbeyan.

Police have been told the youth, allegedly armed with a knife, threatened a staff member and demanded cash.

He fled the scene without any money. The youth was last seen running south along Sheedy Lane, toward Morisset Street.

Officers attached to Monaro Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Police have released CCTV footage of a person who might be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 16 to 18 years old, about 170cm tall, with a solid build.

In the footage, he can be seen wearing a blue-hooded jumper with a purple and yellow baseball cap, grey tracksuit pants, and black shoes.
