Police render safe explosive device found near Dapto

Police are appealing for information after a homemade improvised explosive device was found near Dapto.

About 4am yesterday (Tuesday 22 October 2019), a security officer located a homemade explosive device during a routine patrol of a recreation park on Darkes Road, Kembla Grange.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District and the NSW Police Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

The device was scanned and manually moved to a safe location, where it was rendered safe.
