Police are continuing their appeal for public assistance after a five-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Sydney's west last week.
About 7:20pm on Wednesday 17 March 2021, emergency services responded to reports that two pedestrians had been hit by a Toyota Tarago on Rooty Hill Road North, Plumpton.
Officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
Police were told a 25-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter were walking on a pedestrian crossing, situated between Bottles Road and Myra Street, when they were struck by the vehicle.
The woman and girl were taken to Westmead Hospital, where the child later died. The woman remains in hospital with serious back, leg and pelvis injuries.
The 61-year-old male driver was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing. He is assisting police with inquiries.
