Police responding to fatal single-vehicle crash at West Wyalong

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's Riverina region.

Shortly before 1am (Sunday 20 March 2022), emergency services responded to reports a ute had left the road and hit a tree on the Newell Highway, approximately 15km south of the West Wyalong township.

The male driver and sole occupant – who is yet to be formally identified – died at the scene.

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage of the incident is urged to contact Griffith police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 33 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
