Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Edmonton

A 45-year-old Mount Sheridan woman has died following a multi-vehicle crash south of Cairns this morning.

Just before 8am, a silver Toyota sedan was travelling south on the Bruce Highway at Edmonton. Preliminary information suggests the car veered into the path of an oncoming semi-trailer travelling in the opposite direction.

A car which was travelling behind the silver Toyota also collided into the car.

The driver and sole occupant of the silver Toyota died at the scene. The truck driver, a 46-year-old man, and driver of the other car, a 72-year-old man, were not physically injured.

Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing investigations.
