Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Southport

Police are investigating after a woman died following a traffic crash at Southport this morning.

Preliminary information indicates that the 78-year-old female driver was travelling along Little High Street when it's suspected she suffered a medical episode, causing her to collide with a building on Nerang Street.

The woman sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash.

Paramedics attended and treated the woman at the scene, but sadly she passed away.

No one else was injured as a result of the crash. The building sustained minor damage.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
