Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Townsville

A 62-year-old Cosgrove woman has died after a two vehicle traffic crash, at Mount Louisa this morning.

Initial investigations indicate that around 7.45 am the woman was driving a 2017 Subaru south into Townsville on Woolcock Street, when her car struck a 2012 Volkswagen Amarok, which had made a right hand turn out of Woolcock Street into Weston Street.

As a result the woman died at the scene. The 19-year-old male driver of the Amarok was taken to hospital for observation.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage to contact police.

Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the incident.
