Police responding to fatal traffic crash at Winchester

Two people sadly lost their lives in a three-vehicle crash near Winchester this afternoon.

Around 4.05pm a crash involving a truck and two utilities occurred on the Peak Downs Highway, near Logan Creek at Winchester.

Preliminary information indicates the truck and one of the utilities collided head-on.

The driver of the truck, a 47-year-old man from Emerald died at the scene.

The driver of one of the utilities, a 48-year-old woman from Moranbah died at the scene.

The female driver of the second utility sustained minor injuries.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing with officers appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dash cam vision, to contact them.
