The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating a fatal traffic incident at Barkly, 40 kilometres east of Camooweal, last night, March 24.
Around 9.17pm police and emergency services were called to the Barkly Highway, near Flora Downs Road following reports of a woman being struck by a truck.
Upon arrival, a woman was located with critical injuries but was later declared deceased.
The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old New South Wales man, was transported to Mount Isa Hospital for treatment.
Enquires to formally identify the woman, as well as investigations into the circumstances of the traffic crash are ongoing.
The Forensic Crash Unit are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information or dashcam vision of the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
