Police responding to serious traffic crash at Clement

Police are investigating a serious, two-vehicle traffic crash which occurred on the Bruce Highway earlier today.

At 12.15pm, a dual cab towing a trailer which was travelling north and a sedan travelling south collided head on at Clement.

The sedan then caught alight and was extinguished by a truck driver in the area. He then pulled the 38-year-old driver from Mooroobool, who had sustained minor injuries, out of the vehicle.

The 70-year-old driver of the dual cab, from West End (Townsville) was airlifted to Townsville University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Anyone with information or dashcam vision of the area is asked to contact them.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
