Police responding to serious traffic crash at Clontarf

Police are investigating a serious single vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Clontarf last night (October 8).

Police were called to the intersection of the Hornibrook Esplanade and Elisabeth Avenue at about 11.30pm to reports of a car crashed into a light pole there.

Initial investigations indicate the driver, a 30-year-old Clontarf woman, was headed toward Redcliffe when the vehicle left the roadway.

The driver was removed from the car by emergency services and transported to the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The passenger, a 27-year-old Kallangur woman, was not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant dash-cam or CCTV footage from that area is urged to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit investigation is continuing.
