Police responding to serious traffic crash at Sheldon 10 October

A 72-year-old man is in a critical condition following a two vehicle traffic crash involving a stolen vehicle at Sheldon this morning (October 10).

Initial investigations indicate just before 10am, a Mitsubishi Challenger stolen from Cleveland on October 5 and bearing stolen registration plates, was travelling northbound on Mount Cotton Road when a crash has occurred with a Kia Cerato travelling southbound.

The 72-year-old male driver of the Kia has been transported in a critical condition to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A 70-year-old woman, a passenger in the Kia, has been transported in a serious condition to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A 44-year-old man, the alleged driver of the stolen Mitsubishi was taken into custody at the scene and is currently receiving treatment for minor injuries at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Police appeal to anyone with information, CCTV or relevant dashcam footage of the incident or vehicles in the moments prior to the crash to come forward.
