Police responding to serious traffic crash at Nundah

A man has sustained critical injuries following a three-vehicle traffic crash in Nundah last night, Tuesday October 11.

Preliminary information indicates just before 8.30pm a white 2002 Toyota landcruiser was travelling northbound on Southern Cross Way before it has left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier.

The crash damaged electrical infrastructure and forced the landcruiser into the path of a black 2009 Nissan navarra utility travelling north on the Southern Cross Way onramp. The navarra subsequently collided with a Silver 2019 Lexus Ux250h wagon travelling behind it.

The occupants of the navarra and Ux250h immediately rendered first aid to the driver and sole occupant of the landcruiser ahead of the emergency response, and the 45-year-old Brighton man was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

The occupants of the other vehicles were not physically injured.

The crash saw the closure of Southern Cross Way for several hours with diversions via East West Arterial until just before 1am when the road reopened.

Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam vision of the crash or the moments leading up to it to come forward.
