Police responding to serious traffic crash at Murrarie

Police are appealing for public assistance following a serious single vehicle crash involving an alleged stolen car in Murrarie this morning, March 21.

Initial investigations indicate at approximately 3am, a grey Mercedes utility crashed into a concrete barrier near the Lytton Road exit of the Gateway Motorway.

Three occupants were in the vehicle at the time. One passenger, a 15-year-old Murrarie boy, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Queensland Children's Hospital for treatment.

Two other 16-year-old boys sustained non-life threatening injuries and were also transported to hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision of the vehicle travelling south on the Gateway Motorway between 2.30am and 3am to come forward.

Anyone with further information about the vehicle or its occupants is urged to contact police.

The car was reported stolen from a Coolum address on Saturday, March 18.

Investigations are continuing.
