Police are conducting inquiries in the Wynard and Burnie areas as investigations continue into a firearms incident on Sandpiper Road this afternoon.
Police and other emergency services were called to the residential address shortly after 3pm, following reports a person had received a gunshot wound to the stomach.
The person has been taken to hospital and is believed to be in a serious condition. No other injuries have been reported.
A crime scene has been declared at the address, and members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.
Multiple police units, including specialist resources, are responding to the incident and people in the Burnie and Wynyard areas may notice an increased police presence in the area.
At this stage, no arrests have been made.
