Police search for Cohuna burglar and car thief

Swan Hill police are appealing for public assistance following a burglary and the theft of a car in Cohuna and another car in Gunbower last week, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told that a man entered a house on Market Street in Cohuna on Thursday night while the occupants were home and stole the keys to a red Mazda hatchback.

The Mazda was later found crashed into a tree, about 10 km out of town, on the Gunbower Pyramid Road.

The man was given a lift by a passer-by and was dropped off in Gunbower about 10pm.

Police believe the man stole a second vehicle, a red Mitsubishi Lancer sedan registered QIS 885, from a house on Wilson Street which is still missing.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his mid-20s, 175cm tall with a beard.

At the time he was given a lift into Gunbower he was wearing a brown jumper and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
