Police search for missing kayaker at Alberton

Police are searching for a man after a kayak overturned in Alberton waters this afternoon.

Around 12.10pm, police were alerted after a two-person kayak overturned resulting in two men falling into water.

A short time later, one of the kayakers, a 27-year-old Woodridge man was located and taken ashore with no serious injuries. He was transported to hospital as a precaution.

Police launched a multi-agency sea and air search to locate the second kayaker, a 26-year-old Eagleby man, however he has not been located.

The search was suspended at 6.10pm for the night and will recommence tomorrow (August 23).
