Police search for missing woman at Cooktown

Police are co-ordinating an extensive search operation in the far north today for a 36-year-old woman reported missing from Cooktown over the weekend.

Juliana Castrillon (pictured) was last seen hiking away from Cedar Bay towards Home Rule on Saturday morning (September 10) and has not been seen or heard from since.

An aerial search of the area was conducted on Monday and Tuesday, however these efforts were hampered by poor visibility due to the dense terrain.

A ground search and rescue will recommence this morning utilising police on foot, along with SES volunteers.

Juliana is described as 169 centimetres tall, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Juliana's whereabouts is being urged to contact police.
