Police are searching for the occupants of a stolen vehicle after a firearm was located at a crash scene in Sydney’s south west early this morning, NSW Police say.
About 3.20am (Thursday 13 December 2018), emergency services were called to the intersection of Woodville Road and the Hume Highway, Villawood, after a car and truck crash.
Police have been told a Volkswagen Passat travelling north on Henry Lawson Drive and a white Hino truck travelling east on the Hume Highway collided.
The occupants of the Volkswagen fled the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 48-year-old man, was uninjured. He was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
A firearm was located on the roadway. It has been seized for forensic examination.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command, assisted by officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
A search of the surrounding area was conducted; however, the occupants were not located.
Investigations are continuing, and detectives are appealing for anyone with information or who may have dash cam vision to come forward.
Inquiries reveal the Volkswagen was reported stolen on Tuesday 27 November 2018 from Quakers Hill.
