Police are searching for a man who assaulted a woman and stole her car at Southport in the early hours of this morning, Queensland Police say.
Around 1.35am, a 54-year-old woman drove her Mercedes C180 into an underground carpark of apartment building at Marine Parade.
She saw a man attempting to gain entry to a locked stairwell leading to a unit.
The woman challenged the man who then punched her several times in the face before getting into her car and driving off.
The woman was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital for treatment of serious facial injuries.
The stolen silver Mercedes C10 was located by police at Coolangatta where a search was executed.
One man, who was in the car, was taken into custody at Coolangatta and is assisting police with their investigations.
Police are appealing for public assistance to locate another man, Dylan Slingsby (pictured), who they believe will also be able to assist them with their enquiries.
Anyone who sees Slingsby should not to approach him but call police immediately.
