Police seek help to find man after carjacking at Sutherland

Police continue their search for a man after a vehicle, that had been advertised for sale was carjacked at Caringbah overnight.

About 8.10pm yesterday (Tuesday 4 June 2019), a man arrived at a Caringbah address to view a white Nissan Patrol advertised for sale.

The man, who arrived with a woman in a blue SUV, spoke to the man who had advertised the vehicle.

Both men went for a test drive while the woman left in the SUV.

The man stopped the vehicle near the roundabout on Eloura Road at Cronulla and produced a handgun, threatened the owner, and demanded he get out of the vehicle.

The offender took the owner's phone and drove away. The owner alerted witnesses in a nearby car and they attempted to follow the Nissan.

The witnesses returned the man to Caringbah and he contacted police.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene. A search of the area for the vehicle was unsuccessful.

Anyone who witnessed the incident on Captain Cook Drive is urged to come forward.

Police have appealed for anyone who has information about the white, 2004, Nissan Patrol with NSW registration of BF47SC, not to approach it but to contact police immediately.
