Police seek help to find man after robbery attempt at Mooroolbark

Police are seeking to identify a man following an attempted armed robbery which occurred in Mooroolbark yesterday.

Police have been told the victim, a 32-year-old Meadow Heights man, was walking through the bus bays at Mooroolbark Railway Station when he was approached by a man about 7.20pm.

The man asked the victim to use his mobile phone and when he refused the man threatened him, indicating that he had a gun.

The victim continued to refuse to give the man his phone, and the victim walked away, while the offender walked off in the opposite direction.

The offender is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his mid-20s, approximately 180cms tall with blond hair.

He was wearing a black jacket and pants, with a small brown bag around his waist.

Detectives have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
