Police seek help to identify pedestrian following serious crash in Frankston

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify a pedestrian involved in a serious crash in Frankston on 27 July, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the man attempted to cross Cranbourne Road about 11.10pm when he was struck by an oncoming Jeep.

The pedestrian was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries, but is yet to be identified.

He is believed to be in his mid- to late 20s and was wearing a black jacket/jumper, black tracksuit pants and black lace-up work boots at the time of the incident.

Police have released an image of a tattoo the man has on his right shoulder, which has the word "Pete" written above it, in the hope someone recognises the design and can provide information on his identity.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information that may identify the pedestrian is urged to contact Leading Senior Constable Chalmers at Somerville Highway Patrol on 5978 1358.
