Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify a thief who stole valuable jewellery from a property in South Yarra last year.
The unknown man forced entry through the back door of the Punt Road property on Tuesday, 23 December about 8.30pm.
The occupants of the property were not home at the time and returned to find jewellery, handbags and a wallet containing cash were missing.
The jewellery is estimated to be worth over $370,000, some of which was recently inherited from the victim's late mother and is of great sentimental value to the family.
Detectives have released CCTV footage and an image of a man who they believe may assist with their enquiries.
The man is perceived as Caucasian in appearance, with a solid build.
He was wearing a white cap, grey and blue hoodie, grey shorts, black and white 'Nike' sneakers and carrying a black and white striped bag and umbrella.
