Police seek info after armed robbery in Kensington

Police are appealing for information after a man threatened students and stole computers from an educational facility in Sydney’s south-east this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 3.20pm today, a staff member at an educational facility on Anzac Parade, Kensington, was approached by a man who asked about buying a knife.

The woman immediately notified security and the man went to a nearby building where he entered a room.

The man was spoken to by another staff member but produced a screwdriver and demanded the students in the room hand over their computers.

The man also allegedly threatened the students with the weapon.

He fled the area on foot with several computers and a camera, toward Anzac Parade, and was last seen near the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA).

No one was hurt during the incident and police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command were contacted and established a crime scene.

Police are interviewing numerous witnesses and will review CCTV as they continue their investigation.

Several items were also seized from the room for further forensic analysis.

The man has been described to police as being of Caucasian appearance and aged in his late 40s. He has short dark hair and was wearing a blue and white striped shirt, jeans and sneakers.

Police have urged anyone with information about the robbery to come forward immediately.
