Police seek info after assault in Riverwood

Police investigating the assault of a man in Riverwood yesterday are appealing for public assistance, NSW Police say.

Just before 7pm today, police attended Mutheun Parade, following reports a man had been assaulted in the street.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and assisted the injured man at the scene before he was taken to St George Hospital.

He remains in hospital and is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, police located a powder believed to be heroin at the scene. It has been seized for forensic examination.

Initial inquiries have lead police to believe two men may have been in the area at the time of the incident and were last seen leaving the area in a gold-coloured 4WD.

The two men, or any other witnesses, are urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
