Police Seek Information After Assault Near Wagga Wagga

Riverina Police are appealing for information, as they continue investigations into a serious assault near Wagga Wagga on the weekend.

About 6pm on Saturday 16 August 2025, police were called to a park bench in bushland on Red Hill Road, Moorong, following reports of an assault.

NSW Ambulance paramedics responded and treated a 29-year-old man for a neck injury and possible spinal injuries. He was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for treatment.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District responded and established a crime scene.

Police were told the 29-year-old man had his head assaulted before being punched several times and falling onto the park bench hitting his head and neck on impact.

As investigations continue police are hoping to speak with a man seen in the area at the time of the assault.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance and was seen wearing a black hoodie and may have been carrying a bat or pole.

Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or witnesses that drove on Red Hill Road, between Yentoo Drive, Glenfield Park and the Olympic Highway, between 5pm and 7pm on Saturday 16 August 2025 to come forward.
