Detectives from Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit and the Gang Crime Squad are today releasing images and appealing for public assistance following an incident in Carlton on 31 December where two men were stabbed.
Emergency services were called to Lygon Street near the intersection of Argyle Place about 11.33pm on Wednesday, 31 December.
Police will allege a group of males armed with knives and machetes set-upon two men outside a restaurant, before fleeing in vehicles.
The two victims - a 20-year-old Heidelberg West man and an 18-year-old NSW man - sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospital.
Detectives are today releasing images of a male who they believe will be able to assist with their enquiries.
He is described as of African appearance and approximately 180-190cm tall with a slim build.
Police are also appealing for any information on the whereabouts of a red 2007-2010 Toyota Aurion with distinctive fog lights on the front.
A number of males were captured on CCTV fleeing the scene in the car, which is last seen turning left into Cardigan Street towards Victoria Street around 11.34pm.
Enquiries are still underway to determine the registration of the vehicle.
The vehicle has not yet been located and investigators are urging anyone who was in the area on the night and who may have dashcam footage or CCTV to contact police.
Three males have been previously charged in relation to the investigation - a 20-year-old Richmond man, a 21-year-old Fitzroy man and a 17-year-old boy from the Melbourne area.
Two men, a 19-year-old from Carlton and a 21-year-old from Reservoir, were arrested and released pending further enquiries.
Detectives believe the incident was targeted and parties involved were known to each other.
