Police seek information after couple threatened during break-in at Inverell

Police are appealing for information after a couple were threatened and assaulted in their home in Inverell overnight.

A 71-year-old woman and a 76-year-old man have told police they were woken about 11.50pm (25 April 2022), when three armed males forced their way into a home on Old Bundarra Road, Inverell.

Police have been told one of the males demanded cash, before threatening the man with a screwdriver. During a struggle, he was pushed over and knocked out.

The group fled on foot with cash and other items.

The man was taken by NSW Ambulance to Inverell Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
