Police seek information after fatal crash near Wagga Wagga

Police are appealing for information and dashcam footage after a child died in a single vehicle crash south of Wagga Wagga yesterday.

About 12.15pm (Saturday 2 October 20210), emergency services attended Holbrook Road, near Paper Forest Road, at Mangoplah following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Police believe a Mitsubishi Triton that was travelling northbound on Holbrook Road left the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver – a 28-year-old man – was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries and taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

A six-year-old boy – a passenger – died at the scene.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist police attached to the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash – or who may have dashcam/CCTV footage from the area – to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
