Police seek information after police car rammed in Moree

Investigators are appealing for information after a police vehicle was rammed in the state's north earlier today.

About 1am (Wednesday 12 June 2019), officers from New England Police District were travelling south on Frome Street, Moree, in a marked police vehicle, when a Toyota Rav4, believed to be stolen, began to travel closely behind, driving erratically and shining a bright light into the rear of the vehicle.

When police attempted to turn right into a carpark, the Toyota purposefully rammed the rear right corner of the police vehicle, causing it to spin 180 degrees and end up on the opposite side of the road.

The Toyota then fled the scene south on Frome Street. The two officers in the vehicle were uninjured.

At 1.30am, the Toyota was found on fire in a vacant block on Delander Street, Moree.
