Police seek information after suspicious fire - Cardiff

Police are appealing for public assistance following a suspicious fire in the Lake Macquarie area yesterday.

About 2.30am (Tuesday 2 April 2019), emergency services were called to a home on Henry Street, Cardiff, after reports of a fire.

Police have been told a 20-year-old woman woke to find a lounge chair on fire next to the bed she was sleeping in.

Other occupants of the home helped extinguish the flames.

The woman received minor burns to her legs and hands. She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require hospitalisation.

As inquiries continue, detectives from Lake Macquarie Police District are urging anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.
