Police seek information: Assault at Maroochydore

Police are appealing for information to assist with an ongoing investigation into an unprovoked assault of a teenage boy at a Maroochydore bus stop in September.

About 7.20am on September 16, a 13-year-old boy was waiting at a stop on Horton Parade when an unknown man approached him and without warning punched him multiple times about the head.

The man stole the boy's mobile phone before destroying it by throwing it on the ground.

He was last seen walking along Horton Parade.

The 13-year-old boy required medical assistance for treatment of minor head injuries.

Detectives from the Maroochydore Child Protection Investigation Unit are investigating.

The man is described as approximately 180cm tall, between 18 to 20-year-old with an Australian accent, with an olive complexion and a medium build.

He has a distinctive tattoo on his hand.

At the time of the assault, the man was wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants, a white baseball cap and black shoes.

Police believe the man in the vision below may be able to assist with their investigations.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this man is urged to come forward.
