Police seek information - Suspicious person in Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are seeking assistance to identify a male acting suspiciously in Alice Springs.

Police received a report of a male attempting to lure school children into a vehicle with a fifty dollar note on Albrecht Drive around 8:00am yesterday. Police conducted patrols of the area however were unable to locate any persons of interest.

A second report of the same nature was made to police today. Police are currently patrolling the Larapinta region.

The male is described as Caucasian and middle-aged with medium skin tone. The vehicle he was driving is described as a black four-wheel drive which was enclosed at the back, possibly with a canopy.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said, "We need to be sure our children are aware of the five Rs;

• Recognise the danger – who or what, and where's the exit?

• Refuse the offer – say no to whatever the stranger is suggesting.

• Raise the alarm – Be loud. Shout. Scream. Make sure you are heard.

• Run away – Get out of there.

• Report it – Make sure you tell your parents or a responsible adult and report it to police. All reports are taken seriously and investigated appropriately."

Any witnesses or anyone with information on the identity of the male is urged to come forward.
