Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate an alleged sexual assault in Shoal Bay.
Police were told that just after 2am yesterday (Sunday 1 June 2025), a woman was sexually assaulted as she walked along Shoal Bay Road near Government Road, Shoal Bay, by an unknown man.
The woman was able to flee before attending hospital where police attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were notified.
Local detectives – assisted by the State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad – commenced inquiries under Strike Force Bundanoon.
As inquiries into the incident continue, officers have released the description of a man who might be able to assist police.
He is described as being aged about 50, 180cm-185cm tall, of chubby build, and was wearing a grey hoodie with black pants.
Police urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has dashcam footage from the area near the time of the incident, to contact police.
