Police Seek Missing Elderly Man from Shoal Bay

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an elderly man missing from Shoal Bay.

John Woodpidge, aged 82, was last seen on Rigney Street, Shoal Bay, about 9.30pm on Tuesday (2 September 2025).

When he was unable to be contacted, officers attached to Port Stephens Hunter Police District were notified this afternoon (Friday 5 September 2025) and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police have concerns for John's welfare as he lives with dementia.

John is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 168cm tall, and with grey hair.

He was last seen wearing light blue jeans, joggers, a horizontally striped rugby jersey, and a blue zip-up jacket

John is known to frequent the Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay, and Fingal Bay areas.
