Police are appealing for assistance to locate the relatives of an as yet unidentified woman found in the Blue Mountains area yesterday.
About 4.30pm on Wednesday 26 June 2025, emergency services were called to Great Western Highway at Hazelbrook, following reports of a woman was found unresponsive in bushes near a pedestrian overpass.
The woman was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Nepean Hospital for further treatment.
Inspector Ben Hadfield from Blue Mountains Police has appealed for anyone with information on the woman's identity to contact police as a matter of urgency.
"Our concerns are that the woman has suffered a medical episode and has been unable to effectively communicate with hospital staff or police, so we don't know who she is or where she is from – she is effectively a Jane Doe," Insp Hadfield said.
"Blue Mountains Police have conducted a canvass of the Hazelbrook shops and surrounding areas, but we have been unable to identify her.
"We are also trying to trace the woman's movements through local CCTV footage in the area to see if we can see where she came from."
"She is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 70 years of age, approximately 140-150cm tall, thin build, with grey curly hair. At the time she was first treated by Ambulance Paramedics, she was wearing a brown jacket, blue leggings carrying a black handbag."
"Someone must know who she is – whether it be a neighbour, relative or friend who hasn't been seen in a few days – we believe she is most likely from the Hazelbrook or Lawson area as she had a receipt from Foodworks at Hazelbrook in her bag," Insp Hadfield said.
Anyone with information regarding the woman's identity is urged to contact Blue Mountains Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
