Police are appealing for information following a string of vehicle thefts in the state's west.
About 4.50am Saturday 28 February 2026, officers attached to Orana Mid Western PD were called to the Oxley Highway, Warren, with reports of a vehicle fire.
Police arrived to find a Kia people mover completely engulfed in flames. Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze, however; the car was destroyed.
Police spoke with the owner and were told that the vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of a home on Hume Street, Warren, between 10.30pm Friday 27 February 2026 and 4.50am Saturday 28 February 2026.
Police were also told that the vehicle had been stolen previously – on Friday 20 February 2026 – along with a spare key to the vehicle. The vehicle had been recovered, however the spare key remained outstanding at the time.
Police are also investigating after a grey Isuzu twin cab utility was stolen from a property on Riverview Street, Warren, between 10pm Sunday 15 March 2026 and 4am Monday 16 March 2026. Officers were told unknown person/s had forced entry into the home before stealing the keys and fleeing in the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Following inquiries, police located and recovered the vehicle at 6.45am Monday 16 March 2026 at the intersection of Chester and Boston Streets, Warren.
Around 1.30am on Tuesday 10 March 2026, a white Hyundai sedan was reportedly stolen from an address on Boss Avenue, Warren. Police were told unknown person/s allegedly forced entry into the home before stealing the keys and fleeing in the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Following inquiries, around 4.30am the same day, police located the vehicle turning onto the Oxley Highway. Police activated all warning signals, however the driver failed to stop. A pursuit was initiated, before being terminated when police lost sight of the vehicle. Around 4.40am, police located the vehicle abandoned in Lawson Street, Warren.
