Police seek witnesses after boy bitten by dog in Carlingford

Police are appealing for witnesses after a boy was bitten by a dog in Sydney’s north-west today, NSW Police say.

About 1.30pm today, a five-year-old boy was reported missing from his backyard on Alamein Avenue, Carlingford.

A short time later, emergency services were called to Alamein Avenue, following reports of an injured child.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated a five-year-old boy at the scene for a laceration to his lip. He was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with non life-threatening injuries.

Police have been told the boy was bitten by a dog in a car, after the driver stopped to assist the boy.

Officers from Ryde Local Area Command would like to speak to the man in the vehicle, described only as a charcoal-coloured sedan.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
