Police seek witnesses after child struck by car in Narwee

Police have appealed to the public for information after a small child was struck by a car at Narwee this afternoon, and has been hospitalised in a critical condition, NSW Police say.

About 4.20pm today emergency services were called to the intersection of Hannans Road and Penshurst Road after reports of a crash.

Police have been told an 18-year-old local man was driving a metallic blue 2003 model Nissan Pulsar sedan west on Hannans Road when it struck the child’s pram.

The two year old male child in the pram was unconscious at the scene and was treated by Ambulance paramedics.

The woman pushing the pram was not injured however she was treated at the scene for shock.

The child was conveyed to Randwick Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The car driver was taken to hospital to obtain mandatory blood and urine samples.

Police have urged anyone who might have witnessed the crash to come forward and contact police.
