Police seek witnesses as inquiries begin into Georges Hall fire

Police are appealing for assistance from the public as they investigate a fire which burn-out a bushland reserve at Georges Hall yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Bellevue Avenue shortly before 2.20pm (Saturday 4 January 2020), after a bushfire was sighted in The Crest Reserve.

NSW Fire and Rescue and RFS crews worked for several hours as the fire spread, but about 6pm the fire was extinguished and a crime scene established.

Investigators believe the fire was deliberately lit and are appealing for anyone with information about the fire – or anyone with dashcams who may have been in the vicinity of Rex Road between 1pm and 2pm and may have caught people acting suspiciously – to contact Bankstown Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
